Communr is an application that helps users connect to and interact with the people and places in their local community. Communr is a social network designed to connect people, places, groups, and events in local communities around the United States. Communr connects users to what's around them, and does this intelligently based on a user's location, interests, likes and dislikes, and other traits. This is a great application that helps get the word out about local churches, schools, parks, shops and restaurants.

Individuals can use Communr to learn about their community from the comfort of their home. This should ultimately lead to more connected neighbors, people and places. Additionally people can connect with one another in their community based on their shared interests in hobbies, opinions or lifestyles. Communr makes it easy for its users to create and join groups online that can range in interest from the local gyms to the nearby neighborhood associations to a city-wide team.

Finally, Communr helps its users discover and connect with new places and events in their local community.

Communr is developed by Collective Core. It launched on July 21, 2011 and was founded by Chris Lentz. By July 31, 2011, Communr had grown to 100+ users. As of March 2012, it appears to still be a developing but growing site.

Communr focuses on connecting individuals to their immediate community. It is a newer site, and still in development.

The site is still building, and there are some pages that have the "Coming Soon!" message. For example their About Us and Learn More pages were not complete as of March 2012.

From there, Communr requests a user to provide their first and last name, email address, password, location, state and to accept the Communr Terms & Conditions and Privacy Policy. New users will need to confirm their email account. From there new users can login to their new account.

Communr is a free application. There was no indication as of March 2012, that the site would begin charging anytime soon for its services.

Communr is great for people who are moving to a new community or for those who want to become further connected to their community but are not sure where they should start. Communr makes it easy and unassuming for members to get connected and engaged into the places that they live in.
